How to Play

Play Algerian Patience Solitaire online for free. Algerian Solitaire is a solitaire game where players try to build 8 foundations with one set running from ace up and the other set running from king down. The tableau has 8 rows with 1 or 2 cards each and the other 92 cards are in the reserve, dealt six at a time until the final deal of 8 onto the tableau. This game is rendered in mobile-friendly HTML5, so it offers cross-device gameplay. You can play it on mobile devices like Apple iPhones, Google Android powered cell phones from manufactures like Samsung, tablets like the iPad or Kindle Fire, laptops, and Windows-powered desktop computers. All game files are stored locally in your web browser cache. This game works in Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and other modern web browsers.

Starting the Game

Click the yellow play button in the lower right corner. Read the proverb that comes up, and click again to start the game.
Game Controls
- Mouse

    - Use your finger like a mouse.
    - The upper right corner of the game has buttons to exit the game, read gameplay instructions, and turn sound on or off.
    - Game Play
      - The name of this game is to quickly build up your foundations as fast as you can and try to leave multiple open columns on the playing field if possible.
        Quickly building your foundations means a broader range of cards will be playable between the tableau and the foundations, while you will also work through the cards in your reserves.
        Leaving one or more columns open on the tableau makes it easier to organize cards.
        No undo button
        This game does not have an undo button, so be careful when laying your cards.
        You can select a card and move it slightly to see the card underneath it before committing to laying it.
        Suited sequential order
        When you place cards on the tableau they need to be of the same suit as the card you are laying them on.
        They also need to be sequentially above or below the prior card.
        You can create a run of cards which moves in both directions, meaning you can have cards go 7-8-9-8-9-10 as long as they are all the same suit.
        Work your foundations together
        Each suit has 2 foundations with one going from ace up and the other going from king down.
        You can move cards back and forth between foundations to use additional cards from the reserve or the tableau.
        For example, if you have king down to 8 of clubs in one stack and ace up to 7 in another stack and you want to get rid of the 6 of clubs from the tableau then you would move the 7 on the 8 and then put the 6 on the 7.
        When you have a choice to lay cards counting upward or downward you often want to go middle out.
        Higher cards: If you have a 9-10-jack of spades available and the king of spades is already on a foundation then you would generally want to stack the cards in the tableau with the jack as the bottommost card so when you get a queen of spades you can quickly lay the jack, 10, then 9 on that foundation.
        Lower cards: For lower cards near the bottom end of the run you want to stack cards on the tableau sequentially with the lowest card at the bottom.
        Empty columns
        If you can create one or more empty columns on the tableau it gives you additional flexibility with re-ordering cards near the top of the reserve or the cards on other tableau columns.
        Many solitaire games require you not have any empty places on the tableau to deal another round of cards, but this game has a double bonus:
        You can deal additional rounds of cards from the reserve with empty columns.
        All deals from the reserve except the final deal place cards on the 6 reserve piles. Only the last deal of 8 goes onto the tableau.
        Audience
        The word patience in the title is not an accident. 😉 This game is best for those who have time to spend on it and are OK spending a good amount of time without winning the hand.
        This game does not have an undo button, so be careful with your lays!
